Karl-Henrik Robčrt is one of Sweden's foremost cancer scientists, who, in 1989,
started an environmental movement in Sweden called The Natural Step, with a vision
of a socially and ecologically sustainable society. He defines sustainability
as "“creating new ways to live and prosper while ensuring an equitable, healthy
future for all people and the planet.” Now an international organization with
ten offices around the world, The Natural Step continues to use a science-based
systems framework to help organizations and communities understand and move towards
that state of sustainability.
